peter + lenna // engagement

I've been so excited to share this post and these photos with you all. They're some of my favorites! Not only because these two were wonderful in front of the camera, but also [okay, mostly] because this particular couple are two people oh so close to my heart. Lenna is my little sister + best friend, and Peter is her fiancé which BASICALLY makes him my brother.

Lenna and Peter had met in 2010 at a mutual friend's wedding, and though Peter has no memory of meeting her [which i'm thinking, HOW COULD YOU NOT REMEMBER THIS CUTIE???] Lenna completely remembers meeting him. They didn't talk allot when they first met, but fast forward 2 years later and they're at the same family camp in Nebraska. She had heard a few rumors saying that Peter had disliked her [how does love always start that way?] but she was so confused because he didn't even know her! They were able to talk it out in Nebraska, and from then on it was a friendship renewed. They began talking and next thing you know Peter's calling up my dad with interest in starting a real and Christ centered relationship with Lenna.

From that point on I have been so blessed to see incredible growth in both of these two people. Lenna has brought out so much more of Peter's sweet personality and Peter has lived out his love for her in gentle and selfless ways that I've had the privilege of watching from the sidelines. As her older [and sort of protective] big sis I had never expected my best friend to be interested in someone who lived over 800 miles away. But the love I see between these two is genuine, raw, and good in the sight of the Lord. After getting married in just a little under a month they plan to start their new life in Colorado...and I couldn't be happier or more excited for them.

When Peter came out to Illinois in December to celebrate Christmas with our family, we had planned to do an engagement session with all the expected Christmas snow and sunshine. However, it didn't snow. In fact, on Christmas day it was a balmy 50 degrees! We went ahead and did the shoot anyways a few days before and it ended up being a beautiful [but suuuuper windy] sunshiny day.

I am so excited for these two. And in the midst of all the hustle + bustle of wedding planning, we are soaking up every minute of time together. To everything there is a season...and this one yet bittersweet, is beautiful.

Much love,
